But the basic steps for installing them should be pretty much the same for most recent options.

I updated my Nook to HD to KitKat and it seems to work fine for a few hours, then it starts to shut off or go to a blank screen when you push the N button or attempt an action. Is that an issue with the OS or the hardware? I used the next to latest nightly build of Kitkat. Could be either. You might want to try a different build of KitKat or Lollipop to see if that resolves the issue.
